Sumi-e Gallery
by Lidia Rozumus Lidia Rozumus was born and raised in Poland, where she
studied at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow receiving a MA degree in History of the Arts. She also studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. Living in the United States since 1980, she works as a graphic designer, paints sumi-e and writes haiku. She is also a teacher of sumi-e and has lectured at Columbia College in Chicago on "An Introduction to sumi-e, Zenga, and Haiga". Lidia's Sumi-e and haiku have been exhibited and published in the U.S., Japan, and Poland. Lidia has been a member of the Haiku Society of America since 1992 and was among the speakers at the Haiku Chicago Conference in 1995 and HSA Quarterly National Meeting in Northbrook, Illinois, in 1996. She was also a member of the American delegation to the second HSA joint meeting with the Haiku International Association in Tokyo in April 1997. In 1999 at the Haiku North America Conference in Evanston, Illinois, she exhibited her sumi-e, and at The Global Haiku Conference in Decatur, Illinois, she showed her Haiga. She received a special Merit Book Award from the HSA in 1995 for the graphic design of her self-published book of haiku and sumi-e. She has written and designed three portfolios/books of haiku, haibun, and haiga: Twenty Views from Mole Hill (1999), My Journey (2004), and the last one was called Hailstones-Haiku by Santoka Taneda (2006).
